‘In Full Colour’ was the official theme of the MET, but this didn’t keep Cape Town and South Africa’s premier celebrities, fashionistas and socialites from wearing this year’s sexiest and hottest trends.

African fashion has been signified by “the Big Five and leopard prints” for too long. In the 80s, 90s straight hair was more popular than an afro, western brands and trends over our traditional Sesheweshwe or traditional Xhosa skirt, or even the super Wax pagne worn by most central and north African women…

Have you ever walk down the street and come across someone dressed in clothes most people don’t wear anymore?Walked away asking yourself if people still find those items fashionable?

But then again, who actually decides if a trend is in or out, isn’t fashion an expression of the individual’s mood and character?…

Celebrating Fashion

August is a month of celebration,we celebrate women, ordinary woman, professional woman, house wives, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, from one generation to the next. We celebrate women of all sizes from small to extra large because we all have something give back to the community around us, innately, we have a desire to be appreciated and honored and loved and admired.

The crisis has caused many to scale down on shopping but fact is that people will always need clothes. Some designers, Marion & Lindie to name a few, are cutting down prices for up to 50% on their new arrivals and those who have always dreamed but could not afford now can.
