Kofi Productions brings you_ PRECIOUS AFRICA! SABC 1, 21:00, Tuesday
Precious Africa is a television documentary series that was conceptualized by Kofi Productions. The main theme of the show is Africa as it is seen through unbiased eyes; there are many stereotypes that have been subjected upon the African continent as a result of colonial propaganda. Since the turn of the century negative images have flooded the media and educational institutions, which are seldom accurate and lack honesty.
Precious has long had a deep and loving connection with the African continent and the concept of African renaissance. “As a child growing up in Southern Africa we are often told of the evils of the continent and seldom taught of the greatness of our African people. Many of us do not know that religion and education are concepts, which have existed long before Europe took hold of this continent. We have lost our roots as African youth”. These beliefs are forcing us to think we cannot learn from our history when in-fact we are living in a continent rich in knowledge of the worldly ideas and subjects which we have been forced to believe were brought here by our colonizers. “Africans have been intellectual for millennia before they became slaves”.
The name of the show stands as a testament to the hope that shines bright in our world today, it is to say Africa you are precious as you are.
When people are low in self-esteem their beauty will not glow and “Precious Africa” aims to illuminate the beauty of the African continent and its people.
